Ingredients:
4 cups of combined walnuts, pecans, almonds, and cashews
½ teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
½ cup sugar
¼ cup water
Steps:
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees. Measure 4 cups of raw nuts in to a large bowl. Measure spices into a small bowl. Stir together the spices, then pour over the nuts and stir together. Combine butter, sugar, and water to make a syrup.
In a small saucepan stir together the syrup ingredients and cook over medium high heat until the butter melts. Set a timer for 1 minute and let the mixture gently boil until the timer goes off.
While the syrup is cooking butter a 15 x 10” jelly roll sized pan and cover with wax paper or parchment paper.
Pour the syrup over the nut/spice mixture, stir and pour in to the prepared pan and spread nuts into a single layer and bake for 10 minutes.
Remove the pan from the oven, stir to coat the nuts with syrup and spread into a single layer again. Bake for another 6 minutes.
Remove the pan from the oven, stir one last time and spread out the nuts to cool. Cool well before serving.
